As someone who spends a lot of time working with my hands and on the go with Jonny Windows, I’ve found that listening to podcasts can be a great way to stay entertained and even learn a thing or two while cleaning windows or awnings, etc. Here are my top 5 favorite podcasts to listen to while working—whether it’s to stay motivated, get a laugh, or just enjoy some great conversations.

1. The Lex Fridman Podcast

When I’m in the mood for something intellectual and thought-provoking, Lex Fridman’s podcast is always at the top of my list. Fridman, an AI researcher and MIT professor, invites an eclectic mix of guests, from scientists and entrepreneurs to philosophers and athletes. The conversations go deep, often touching on topics like technology, artificial intelligence, and the future of humanity. It’s a fascinating listen that keeps my brain engaged, even when I’m doing more routine tasks on the job.

2. SmartLess

For a good laugh and some lighthearted fun, I always turn to SmartLess. Hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, this podcast blends humor with insightful celebrity interviews. What I love most is the element of surprise—one host brings on a guest each episode that the other two don’t know about until they start recording. It makes for spontaneous, hilarious, and sometimes surprisingly deep conversations. It’s perfect for keeping me in a good mood when I’m tackling a busy workday.

3. We Might Be Drunk

Comedy is my go-to during long days, and We Might Be Drunk, hosted by Mark Normand and Sam Morril, is the perfect fix. These two hilarious comedians riff on everything from stand-up to life’s oddities, all while drinking and chatting in a relaxed setting. The humor is raw and unfiltered, and the chemistry between them makes every episode feel like hanging out with a couple of funny friends. It’s perfect for when I need something light but hilarious to keep me going through the day.

4. Whiskey Ginger with Andrew Santino

Another comedy favorite is Whiskey Ginger, hosted by comedian Andrew Santino. Santino has a knack for blending humor with real, heartfelt conversations. He brings on fellow comedians, actors, and entertainers, and the discussions range from hilarious to surprisingly introspective. It’s a great listen for when I’m in the mood to unwind but still want a bit of depth in my entertainment. Plus, Santino’s wit and charm make every episode feel fresh.

5. Kill Tony

If you enjoy stand-up comedy and quick-witted banter, Kill Tony is a must-listen. Hosted by Tony Hinchcliffe, this podcast features live comedy performances where stand-up comedians get a minute to perform, and then Tony, along with his panel of guests (often big names in comedy), give feedback, roast the performers, and chat with them. It’s a unique mix of raw, unscripted comedy and behind-the-scenes insights into the world of stand-up. Kill Tony is fast-paced, entertaining, and never fails to crack me up when I need a mental break from work.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re looking for something serious, funny, or a mix of both, these podcasts have you covered. They’re all great listens while I’m out working, keeping my mind sharp and entertained. If you haven’t checked them out yet, I highly recommend giving them a listen while you’re grinding through your next workday. Who knows—you might find a new favorite podcast too!
